Red meat is highly nutritious because it contains protein, vitamins (especially vitamin B3, B6, and B12), minerals (especially iron, zinc, and selenium), antioxidants, creatine, carnosine, and much more nutrients. Vitamin B12 is not attainable from plants while iron from red meat is high quality heme-iron that easier to absorb by human body.

Red meat becomes harmful foods especially if it processed with harmful ingredient such as sodium nitrate, coloring agent, and preservatives. The other bad choice is fatty meat because it contains high saturated fat. Next bad choice is meat from factory-farmed cattle because they commonly feed by grain-based foods and pumped with hormones that will affect nutrition inside the meat.

The good choice is grass-fed organic lean meat because the animal is raised naturally, as they suppose to be and the meat is low fat. Some study found that grass-fed meat contains healthy Omega 3, CLA, vitamin E, and vitamin A.

Beef Wrap
Ingredients:
  • 7 ounce lean meat steak
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro
  • 2 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon light mayonnaise
  • 2 whole-wheat tortillas
  • Thinly sliced zucchini and tomatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Salt and pepper
How to cook:
  1. Season the meat with salt and pepper. Rub skillet with olive oil and heat it over high heat. Sauté the meat and turn it after 10 minutes to cook both sides until medium. Slice the steak into two or thinner.
  2. Spread mayonnaise on tortilla; add cilantro, steak, zucchini, tomatoes, and lettuce. Roll it up into a good wrap.
